Homeland of kidney bean is South America, from where it migrated to other countries. In Russia beans appeared in the XVII century. Kidney bean (lat. Phaseolus vulgaris) is a herbaceous plant of the legume family. It has straight or curly stem. The raw material of kidney beans is considered to be its bean leafs. The stocking starts after fruits ripening (August-September).
Bean leafs are rich by phaseolin, lecithin, flavonoids and other beneficial substances. Kidney bean has healing properties. Kidney bean is rich by sulfur that makes it indispensable for the treatment of intestinal infections. Beans have to be included into the menu of patients suffering from diabetes. Due to arginine contained in kidney bean the quantity of sugar in blood decreases.
