Panthenol is an alcohol analogue of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), and is thus a provitamin B5. At room temperature, it is a viscous transparent liquid. Panthenol is used in pharmaceutical and cosmetic products as a moisturizer and to accelerate wound healing, as well as to reduce itching and irritation. Panthenol has no serious contraindications, including for pregnant women, it combines well with other biologically active substances.
